Our Home and the Story of Who we Are

I love this quote by Nate Berkus:

“Your home should tell the story of who you are and what you love most, collected and assembled in one place.” – Nate Berkus

When someone walks into your space, whether that be your home or office, they should be able to tell something of your personality. Perhaps they will find it in the souvenirs you have collected from your travels, your choice in art, your taste in furniture, your choices in colour and texture.

They may also be able to tell something based on the overall feeling of your home – cozy or cluttered (or both), neat or disorganized, quiet or busy.

Our loved ones are present by way of what we choose to frame, the artwork on our fridge or bulletin board, a postcard or magnet reflective of where we have been.

We deny ourselves a little bit of our self-importance when the space around us doesn’t reflect who we are. Add some colour, de-clutter, re-organize, reclaim.
